United Nations Relations

As an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the Universal Peace Federation promotes interfaith understanding, sustainable development, strengthening of marriage and family, mediation of conflict, the empowerment of women and the revitalization of the UN. UPF supports the goals of the UN with programs on occasions such as:

Asuncion, Paraguay - UPF-Paraguay organized a celebration of the International Day of Friendship, July 30, with the founder of the day, Dr. Artemio Bracho, as the featured speaker. As a result of his efforts of 54 years, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution on May 3, 2011 establishing this international day.

Moscow, Russia - About 95 people gathered for a conference on "Russia towards the UN International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures" held in Moscow’s National Hotel Dec. 21. Scholars, government officials and NGO leaders proposed ways to work together during the coming Year of Culture declared by the Russian Federation in a framework of promoting a culture of volunteerism, family culture and a culture of peace.

Novosibirsk, Russia - If citizens were well aware of the Constitution of Russia and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, life would be considerably improved. With this conviction, UPF-Siberia organized a program on December 12 commemorating both Human Rights Day and Constitution Day.
