World Interfaith Harmony Week Observed in Yekaterinburg, Russia

Russia-2018-02-10-World Interfaith Harmony Week Observed in Yekaterinburg, Russia

Yekaterinburg, Russia—Maintaining one’s traditions while respecting the traditions of others was the theme of a World Interfaith Harmony Week event.

In Yekaterinburg, a city that lies on the border between Europe and Asia, the local UPF chapter held a discussion titled "Family in a Multicultural Society: How to Preserve Traditions without Multiplying Conflicts."

The event, held at the Hotel Grand Avenue on February 10, 2018, drew a total of 15 participants from different generations and worldviews.

The participants were associated with the Lutheran Center, the Moslem mosque, and the center of Vedic culture, among others. They showed a keen interest in the issues of family and raising children.

A common theme of the discussion was the importance of adults showing young people an example of true tolerance toward all religions and nationalities. This is especially important in the family, where children watch and copy their parents’ behavior.
