UN Global Day of Parents 2015

UPF-Australia: Global Day of Parents Observed

Brisbane, Australia—Women upholding moral values was the topic of a joint celebration of International Day of Families and Global Day of Parents.

“Empowered Women—Healthy Families” was the title of the presentation given by Mamiko Rattley, Queensland state chair of the UPF-affiliated organization Women’s Federation for World Peace, together with Winnie Green, president of Wahine Maori.

Following the presentation, the attendees discussed the importance of women in families having clear moral values and continuing to educate themselves in order to guide and inspire their families, especially children.

The meeting was held on June 11, 2015, to celebrate conjointly the two United Nations-declared days of International Day of Families (May 15) and Global Day of Parents (June 1). Although it was a cold and wet winter night, a committed handful of members attended to celebrate these important days on topics that are undervalued in society.
