Faith-based Diplomacy: Bridging the Divide

Dr. Douglas Johnston, noted author and peacemaker, spoke on “Faith-based Diplomacy: Bridging the Religious Divide” at an official Pre-Parliament of the World’s Religions Event hosted by UTS, the Interfaith Seminary, May 23. Dr. Johnston co-authored Madrasa Enhancement and Global Security: A Model for Faith-Based Engagement, an account of Johnston’s groundbreaking work to help broaden the curriculum and the educational strengths of Islamic schools in the Muslim world.

The event had been organized to narrow the gap between different religions and regions which are still separated by barriers such as prejudice, discrimination, intolerance, injustice, and insularity when it comes to existing and letting others exist with dignity

International Leadership Conference Held in Nigeria

Abuja, Nigeria - An International Leadership Conference on the theme “One Family under God: A New Vision for Peace in the 21st Century” was held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, the capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This event, which was part of the Global Peace Tour 2009, drew participants from across Nigeria, including Ambassadors for Peace and other dignitaries.

"Brunei Night" Co-hosted by UPF-Japan

Tokyo, Japan - Welcoming H.E. Pengiran Yusuf, the first Prime Minister and the founding father of the State of Brunei to Tokyo, the “La vie en Rose,” an association founded by the women who love Brunei, held their first regular meeting on April 11 on the theme “Brunei Night” and nearly 100 people attended. The event was co-hosted by UPF-Japan and Brunei Darussalam Culture Exchange Association in Tokyo, and sponsored by the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Japan.
