DRC National Peace Council Holds Inaugural Session

D.R.Congo-2018-01-26-DRC National Peace Council Holds Inaugural Session

Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo—Approximately 150 participants, including high-level dignitaries, attended the inaugural session of the UPF National Peace Council.

After the success of the very first Africa Summit, which was held in Dakar, Senegal, earlier in the month, the National Peace Council of DRC organized its inaugural session at the Hotel Sultani in Kinshasa, the capital, on January 26, 2018.

Ambassadors for Peace, parliamentarians, traditional chiefs, religious leaders, journalists and young people enhanced the inaugural ceremony with their presence. We also noted the presence of UN agencies, such as the World Health Organization, UNESCO and Search for Common Ground.

In total, the 70 members of the National Peace Council attended the event, as did more than 80 personalities from the various sectors of public life.

The minister of youth and new citizenship was one of seven individuals who were awarded Ambassador for Peace certificates during the event.

The National Peace Council was launched on Sept. 30, 2017. In the perspective of the restoration of our nation, the National Peace Council offers many possibilities to reach the authorities in the highest sphere of the country.

The seeds sown in Senegal will produce new fruits in each nation; the example of Senegal inspired us a lot, which motivated us to invite a great political figure, Hon. Évariste Boshab, the former director of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic, vice honorary prime minister of home affairs, and a great professor of constitutional law at several universities.
