UPF-Estonia Discusses the People and Culture of Korea

Estonia-2021-03-13-Estonians Relate Their Korean Experiences

Tallinn, Estonia—Personal views about Korean people and culture were the topic of a UPF webinar.

Universal Peace Federation of Estonia held its second webinar on the theme “Korea – Country of Morning Calm: Personal Experiences” on March 13, 2021.

This webinar series was created to introduce life experiences from the Korean Peninsula and to gather together supporters of the reunification of North and South Korea.

The first panelist, Tiiu Kirsipuu, a famous Estonian sculptor, spoke of being an artist-in-residence for one month in the South Korean city Gongju. There she created an exhibition displaying pillows with pictures of rice fields on them.

The second panelist, Dr. Seung-ho Lee, is the president of DMZ Forum Inc. He described his visit to North Korea, where he planted trees on mountains, 50,000 saplings per week.

The audience had the opportunity to present their questions to the panelists. In the opinion of participant Johann Hinterleitner, the webinar was well balanced and panelists had enough time to talk about their experiences.

The webinar concluded with a presentation by UPF-Estonia Secretary General Avo Martinson about the Little Angels Children’s Folk Ballet of Korea, which was established by UPF founders Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon in 1963. The Little Angels have performed around the world, introducing Korean music and dance.

In 2010-2011, the Little Angels visited all of the 16 U.N. member nations that supported South Korea during the Korean War and performed for the veterans of that war, honoring them as heroes who had saved South Korea from communist invasion.

At the end of the webinar, all the comments from the audience were very positive.

Mr. Martinson announced that the next webinar of the series would be held on April 10.
