Pristina, Kosovo - Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga was elected President of Kosovo on April 7. The only female general in Kosovo and the Balkans, she rose through police ranks and became General Director of the State Police. She was appointed an Ambassador for Peace in 2008.

Ufa, Russia - Young Peace Ambassadors have taken up the "Run Hour” program that began in Yekaterinburg in 2008. On April 4, the sports event started in Yekaterinburg at 2:00 pm, and then the baton was picked up in Ufa.

Oslo, Norway - A European Leadership Conference sponsored by the Universal Peace Federation and Women’s Federation for World Peace was held in Oslo, Norway, on April 30 and May 1. Distinguished delegates from many European countries were in attendance.

Kathmandu, Nepal - UPF-Nepal organized a World Interfaith Harmony Week event at the Peace Embassy in Kathmandu on February 5. Leaders of seven religious traditions offered their perspectives on interfaith harmony.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Members of UPF-Malaysia were deeply saddened and shocked by the tragedy that recently fell upon the nation of Japan. A team of UPF members led by Sam Yeoh visited the Embassy of Japan in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia on March 23 to convey condolences to the government and citizens of Japan. At the embassy, they signed the official condolences book.

Lima, Peru - The 2010 winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Mario Vargas Llosa, joined his former classmate Architect Luis Huarcaya, former President of UPF-Peru, and other distinguished colleagues at a ceremony in his honor held at the Leoncio Prado Military Academy in Lima on March 17.

Brazzaville, Congo - During my two-week stay in the Congo, local UPF leaders and I met with Ambassadors for Peace and government officials to make plans to give one-day seminars about UPF's peace principles to local leaders and educators throughout the nation. I also gave an overview of UPF's peace principles to 150 legislators.

Gangtok, Sikkim, India - UPF-India organized an outdoor prayer ceremony in Gangtok on March 19 for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The UPF-Sikkim committee was joined by the Mayor of Gangtok and devotees of Brahma Kumaris.
