Nacaome, Honduras – As part of UPF-Honduras’ focus on leadership and good governance, Ambassadors for Peace are carrying out educational programs for potential candidates in future elections. The Secretary General of UPF-Honduras was invited to offer a peace message at a March 11 meeting of the Democratic Unification Party, one of the five parties represented in the National Congress.

Paris, France - A European Leadership Conference took place at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris April 12-13, 2012, with the theme "A New Vision for Peace and Human Development."

Davao, Mindanao, Philippines - An International Leadership Conference took place in Davao, the principal city on the island of Mindanao, co-sponsored by the Mayor of Davao. The theme for the March 29-30 conference was "The Role of Interfaith Harmony and Good Governance in Peace and Development."

Vienna, Austria - Following up on the international youth conference during the UN International Year of Youth last July about youth perspectives on peace, the Youth-UPF Austria organized an April 12 forum on “Exploring Global Citizenship.”

Kathmandu, Nepal - In commemoration of International Women’s Day, March 8, 2012, free food and clothes were distributed to elderly women, elderly men and children who are victims of Nepal’s ongoing conflict.

Baan Dadthongchareon, Thailand - A Religious Youth Project in an agricultural community in northern Thailand from March 15 to 19 promoted understanding, friendship, and harmony among participants. The 70 Buddhist, Muslim, Christian, and Catholic youth worked together to improve a children's playground, build vegetable and fruit gardens, repair the road inside the school compound, and build a water drainage system.

Sir Peter Tapsell, 82, the first Maori Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives, died in his sleep at his Ruatoria farm on April 5. He was an active Ambassador for Peace and member of UPF's Global Peace Council.
