Backgrounder: Economic development, leading toward mutual prosperity, is necessary for a true and lasting peace. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals underscore the need to bring an end to extreme poverty and to promote good governance and policies that contribute to economic development, raising the standard of living for everyone.

In this webinar, panelists will consider the ways in which economic development can be expanded throughout Balkans, harmonizing EU strategies with local environment and needs. Panelists will address, in the short time they have (just 7 minutes each), a specific point that they consider especially important, taking into account the key challenges countries in the region are facing:

  • What kind of investment is needed to stimulate development and how to attract foreign investors?
  • How do government policies enhance or hinder economic development in the region?
  • How to build a stable and inclusive economy that can benefit the social situation for the population?
  • How to stimulate entrepreneurship and improve the public administration?
