On behalf of Universal Peace Federation UK you are cordially invited to attend a UPF Zoom event on Tuesday 21st at 6pm on the topic of “Seeking Racial Harmony”. This idea came about as a result of a UPF Zoom event a few weeks ago.

On 17th June UPF hosted a zoom event to highlight the challenges and opportunities faced by young adults during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our attendees were encouraged to discuss how they made the best of the experience- whether it involved spending quality time to unwind with their families or deeply reflect on the socioeconomic and political factors that shape our beliefs, lives and world.

Two of our panellist shared the unfortunate reality that George Floyd’s story sheds light on the fact that even at this time and age there were people who felt it just to demonstrate such hatred and cruelty. A participant suggested we take this further to parliament by trying to create an APPG about the topic and together with support from UPF she has appealed to others to help work on this. At present, we have decided to host a follow up zoom event on “Searching for Racial Harmony”, which will take place on Tuesday 21st July.

Racial harmony is central to Universal Peace Federation's (UPF) philosophy that highlights humanity's position as one family under God. The founders’ of UPF, Father and Mother Moon, said 'God is colour blind'. They proceeded to encourage inter-racial and international marriage as the vanguard of peace-making efforts. Sadly, human history is far from this position and there is a great deal of healing needed. Allowing another person's experience to be a part of us is a practice of empathy that is challenging if we are not authentic. Our efforts are towards making a political change and improving understanding.

We will bring speakers to share their view as to how this could be brought about- speakers include:

Dr Yehoeshahfaht Ben Israel

Young speakers include:

Sagal Mohammad

Amina Achercook

Gabrielle Asari

We are keen to include the views and suggestions of all the participants this is why we have invited Matteo Bergamini to conduct a hackathon via Miro and Zoom to have group discussions with a difference – audience led solutions:

The method utilised makes sure that each participant can contribute to the ideas regarding: 1) 'Why we don’t have Racial Harmony? - i.e What are the Barriers to Racial Harmony.

2) Second stage, Participants give ideas how to remove the obstacles the group deems significant.

Each person will then have 2 min to think of as many ideas as possible on how to remove the barriers, then the best ideas are chosen collectively.

3) Finally in the third grouping when each and every participant will contribute ideas towards the solution for “Seeking Racial Harmony”.

We hope very much to allocate time for each group to present their best idea to all participants.

We want very much to welcome you to our event. Please register at your earliest convenience to reserve your place.
