2ndAfrica Summit: Honoring the Legacy of President Nelson Mandela

The 2nd Africa Summit, dedicated to Honoring the Legacy of President Nelson Mandela and sponsored by the Universal Peace Federation and the Royal House of Mandela, will be convened in Cape Town, South Africa.

The name Nelson Mandela has become synonymous with peace and recognition of the humanity of others, even our most ardent foes. His greatest achievement is not that he liberated the oppressed of South Africa. It is rather that he had greatness of character and the heart to forgive those who had harmed him most; and to withstand the burden of three centuries of colonialism, six decades of Apartheid and 27 years of incarceration. None of these could stand between him and his determination for national reconciliation, building a better Africa and peace in the world.

In his honor, the 2nd Africa Summit will be officially opened by His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, under the theme: “Peace and Human Development in Africa: Interdependence, Mutual Prosperity and Universal Values.”

The 2nd Africa Summit will bring together leaders whose individual and collective experience, wisdom and insight are needed if we are to build a world of mutual understanding, sustainable peace and prosperity for all.

The Summit will feature the first African assemblies of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP), the Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD) and the International Association of Tribal Chiefs. The Summit will conclude with the celebration of a Peace and Family Festival honoring the legacy of President Mandela.
