ILC2021 Asia Pacific, July 29: Closing Session

Asia Pacific—The closing session of the July 28-29 International Leadership Conference 2021 (ILC2021) and Think Tank 2022 Global Forum for UPF’s Asia Pacific region was held on July 29. The program was the last of eight sessions that were convened during the two-day event. More than 4,600 people registered for the event and 229 people joined it live on Zoom thousands more did so through YouTube and Facebook Live.

Mr. Masaichi Hori, president of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Asia Pacific 2, expressed his hopes for reunification of the Korean Peninsula in his congratulatory remarks. A video presentation of highlights from this ILC followed.

Hon. Pinto Katia, a member of the Parliament and former minister of trade and commerce of Kiribati, underscored the need for love and sacrifice for peace to come about between North and South Korea.

Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal, a former minister of the government of Nepal and chairman of UPF-Asia Pacific, congratulated everyone in his closing remarks. Hon. Dhakal briefly discussed the different and unique aspects of the conference. He hopes that the recommendations from leaders and representatives of non-governmental organizations, faith-based organizations, the private sector, humanitarian groups and arts and culture can contribute toward the peaceful resolution of the Korean conflict.

Rev. Gregory Stone, deputy secretary-general of UPF-Asia Pacific, served as the moderator. The program concluded with a dance performed by youth from Hong Kong and taking a commemorative photo.
