A Family Festival in Texas

Houston, Texas - July 19 was proclaimed now and for always “Agape Family Peace Day” in Houston, Texas, by Mayor Bill White. And for good reason. Sixty adults and more than 30 teens and 20 children from around the metropolitan area representing eight church congregations, a Buddhist sect, and a child care center gathered at the Will of God Family Church to celebrate the first annual Agape Family Festival.

Rabbi Dr. Ben-Ami devoted his life to the furtherance of interfaith and interracial cooperation, human rights, the family, and the well-being of the aged. In addition, he promoted education to enhance the values of American democracy and the protection of religious freedom. It gained him recognition by many of his religious peers, public and private institutions, and leaders in the political sphere, including American presidents from Lyndon Johnson to George Bush.

Washington, D.C. – Thousands of peacemakers came to celebrate peace on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol on August 9 at the Global Peace Festival USA. The gathering, billed as the largest interfaith and multicultural event ever held in Washington D.C., was the second in a series of fifteen Global Peace Festivals this year.
