UPF-India ‘Peace Talks’ Continue with Focus on Education
Sikkim State, India—The Sikkim chapter of UPF-India and the International Association of Academicians for Peace (IAAP) held a “Peace Talks” webinar on August 6, 2020 on “COVID-19 Impact on Education: The Way Forward.” More than 278 people attended the event: 78 through Zoom and over 200 through Facebook Live.
The featured panelists were four secondary school principals from Sikkim state. The opening presentation was given by Dr. Robert S. Kittel, director of education of UPF-Asia Pacific and international chair of Youth and Students for Peace (YSP), and special remarks were given by Dr. S.P. Singh, vice chancellor of Royal Global University, Guwahati.
The speakers discussed the negative impact COVID-19 has had on the education sector and also the difficulties of online education.
Dr. Kittel highlighted the Rally of Hope on August 9 and invited all the participants to the online event.
Mr. Santosh Sharma, a member of UPF-Sikkim, served as the moderator.
