American Clergy Bring Peace Message to Guinea

Conakry, Guinea - Seven American Christian leaders, accompanied by Adama Doumbia, the UPF West Africa Chairman, arrived in Guinea on November 13 to deliver the UPF peace message. They were received by three local Ambassadors for Peace, including H.E. Michel Kamano, President of Economic and Social Council of Guinea, who also serves as the UPF president in Guinea.

The next morning, the first rally took place at the Islamic Center, which is among the biggest mosques in the world. Guinea has a population of 10 million, 80 percent are Muslim. To hold an event at the biggest mosque is very significant, and top Islamic leaders all over the capital attended the event, including the Minister of Islamic Affairs. There were 95 imams in the hall. Twenty of them were appointed Ambassadors for Peace, including the Minister of Islamic affairs, who gave a gift to all the visitors.

In the afternoon, there was a rally at the Anglican Cathedral. There were 200 participants, including 20 priests and pastors. The Anglican Archbishop in Guinea accepted an appointment as an Ambassador for Peace together with five of his priests.

The events included reading the UPF peace message and offering a prayer of blessing of marriage.
