Students in Delhi Work Together on Service Projects

Delhi, India - A series of service projects is taking place in collaboration with the National Service Scheme, the main student service organization under government auspices. While much of the work and funds are provided by others, the organizers look to the Universal Peace Federation and its affiliates for support and advice.

On Feb. 22, 2009, people from Jamia Millia Islamia University, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, and other voluntary organizations worked together to clean up the Yamuna River, a tributary of the Ganges flowing through Delhi.

In another service project on Feb. 28, 150 students from many colleges in Delhi cleaned and painted a government school and houses in a small slum near Delhi University in collaboration with different departments of the Delhi government.
