Russians, Ukrainians, and Moldovans Play Football in Korea

Asan, Korea - On August 14 and 15, a football tournament was held in Korea among four teams representing North, South, West and East. The North was represented by the team from Russia that also included representatives from the Ukraine and Moldova.

Despite tight time constraints and complicated organizational problems (preparing documents and ordering tickets), we managed to build a capable team. Some people from the neighboring cities answered the call to participate in so important a tournament. They all went to Moscow ready to be a part of such an important event aimed at not only obtaining high sports results but also at strengthening cooperation among different countries for the sake of peace. Several people from our region who were living in Korea also played on our team.

Despite the short training time, our team conducted itself in dignity on the football field before the onlookers and did everything possible to compete with the professional team from Korea. We lost 5 to 9, but nevertheless we made a good impression and evoked respect from the audience in the stadium and those who watched by direct transmission of the game through the Internet.

In the informal match for third place with the team from Europe, our players managed to score 3 unanswered goals. That success brought them satisfaction and brightened the atmsophere of the tournament. The friendly environment and care of the organizers and the people of Korea in general made everybody happy.
