Aid from Malta to People Stranded in Libya

Valletta, Malta - UPF Ambassador for Peace Mrs. Sanaa El-Nahhal, president of the Arabic Culture Information Society in Malta, is collecting supplies for people stranded by the upheavals in Libya. This humanitarian concern transcends religious boundaries, with the bishop of the Catholic Church proposing that donations at Ash Wednesday services be used to offer humanitarian aid to people on Libya's borders.

UPF-Malta has been taking stock of the painful situation in Libya. Ambassadors for Peace are especially concerned, since Libya is Malta's closest African neighbor and they want to offer assistance in the heart-wrenching scenario where so many people are stranded in various locations because of recent unprecedented developments.

One of UPF-Malta's foremost Ambassadors for Peace, Mrs. El Nahhal and three staff assistants — Mohammed Al Burki, Mohmud Al Moghradi, and Lina El Nahhal — will work together on a humanitarian mission in response to the growing refugee crisis at the Libyan borders with neighboring countries of Tunisia and Egypt.

Mrs. El-Nahhal’s passion is to organize activities related to Arabic culture and foster friendships between people from different cultures. The Arabic Culture Information Society educates the public about Arabic culture, promotes respect and acceptance of other cultures, and encourages integration and participation in the local community.

In an appeal for support for the Libya project, Dr. Nnamdi Ahunanya, Secretary General of UPF-Malta, said UPF believes that "all members of the human race are indeed brothers and sisters as cosmic siblings with no real borders among them as human beings irrespective of their personal beliefs, political orientations, and geographical locations."
