Ishinomaki, Japan - Youth Ambassadors for Peace have been removing rubble and mud from homes in Ishinomaki in the Miyagi Prefecture that were devastated by the March 11 tsunami.

“We really felt that reconstruction from the disaster means not only rebuilding infrastructure but also restoring heart," reported two volunteers during an International Day of Families celebration in Tokyo on May 14. "We want to share with victims the heart of a family.”

The relief project is being carried out by a series of teams of six to eight young people, who stay for ten days at a time. As of June 3, more than 70 people had participated in the project.
