Moscow-Paris Friendship Run Planned for Summer 2013 Print E-mail

Moscow, Russia - For those who like to stretch their legs a bit and cross new horizons with like-minded people, there will be an international Supermarathon Run for Peace, Cooperation, and Friendship from Moscow to Paris next summer. The July 14-August 2 relay race is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the first French-Russian run between Paris and Moscow and in memory of the founder and first president of the International Supermarathon Association, Eduard Yakovlev.

GOALS

  • To show the desire and commitment of the peoples of Russia to live in peace, friendship, agreement, and cooperation with the peoples of the whole world.
  • To reduce the tensions in the view of European peoples towards Russia and its peoples and create a favorable climate in relations between peoples of different nationalities and religions.
  • Using combined team of runners of Russia, France, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Georgia and other countries to show the international community's commitment to peace and friendship between different nationalities in various types of activities
  • To show the advantages of a healthy lifestyle and healthy relations between peoples and countries.

MOSCOW-MALOYAROSLAVEC-JUHNOV-ROSLAVL-MOGILEV-BREST-WARSAW-PRAGUE-NURNBERG-MANNHEIM-SAARBRUCKEN-METZ-VERDUN-PARIS. Don't know where those places are? Check the map below:

  • Length of route: 3100 km
  • Method: relay race
  • Average speed: 11-12 km/hour
  • Average distance per day: 150-300 km

TEAM

  • Runners: 25 people ages 18 and older from Russia, France, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Georgia
  • Support staff: 1 leader, 2 managers, 1 translator, 1 doctor, 1 masseur, 4 drivers

  • 1 bus
  • 1 minibus

[NOTE: For an account some crazy adventures in a Paris-Moscow-Beijing race in 1993, click here. But wait, their adventure was a picnic compared to the Norwegian who ran from Paris to Moscow in less than 15 days in 1833.]
