Bonn, Germany - African cultures and traditions were showcased at a June 17 program in Bonn organized by Henriette Bagoussa from Cameroon and some of her friends. “I see more Africans here than at the Bonn Afrikafest the other day,” said one of the guests. A small exhibit of traditional clothes, pieces of art, and typical fruits and food brightened the UPF headquarters. Video and live presentations of drumming and dancing captivated the audience.
Mrs. Domenica Nkemnkeng shared some of her own experiences growing up in Africa, followed by a lively debate on the family structure including the hot topic of polygamy. Pius Nkemnkeng addressed one of the most important problems in Africa: the supply of clean potable water. He presented details of the Ekombe water supply project in his home village in Cameroon.
Henriette Bagoussa introduced the work of UPF in Africa and vividly shared her own experiences at the UPF conference in Nigeria last year.
Some participants had prepared delicious food from their home countries – a real treat for everyone and a tasty conclusion for a memorable event!
