A Seminar on Good Governance organized for the members of Mali's National Assembly took place on April 19, 2008, at the National Assembly headquarters. The opening ceremony was chaired by the President of the National Assembly, His Excellency Dioncounda Traore.

Also present at the conference were Mr. Taj Hamad, Vice President of UPF's Global Peace Council; Rev. Eiji Tokuno, Chair of UPF-Africa; Rev. Adama Doumbia, Sub Regional Director, UPF-Africa II; and Rev. Benevolent Zinsou, Sub Regional Director, UPF-Africa I.

Fifty Members of the National Assembly attended the opening ceremony; 42 of them attended the entire conference and were appointed Ambassadors for Peace. Forty-seven members of their administrative staff also attended the conference. "This seminar enabled us to be better equipped for our political, social, and cultural mission," said Hon. Modibo Kane Cisse. He also expressed appreciation for the teaching about family values.

A UPF delegation made up of Mr. Hamad, Rev. Tokuno, and Parfait Dena was received by Prime Minister of Mali, H.E. Modibo Sidibe; the President of the Constitutional Court of Mali; and the Governor of the District of Bamako.

The event was covered on national television and on a regional television network that can be seen in 16 countries.
Hon. Ibrahima Thiam said, “We are grateful to the Universal Peace Federation and wish to reinforce our knowledge through other seminars. Thank you for organizing this seminar."
