Marriage and Family Conference in Rwanda Print E-mail

Kigali, Rwanda - UPF held a conference on "The Significance of Marriage and Family for Peace and Human Development" on October 29 at the Alpha Palace Hotel in Kigali.

The conference was attended by people of all walks of life in Rwanda, mainly Ambassadors for Peace. Other people were also invited. About 90 people attended the conference. It was very exciting and educational, and many people who attended requested that similar conferences and seminars be held regularly.

Senator Hon. Iyamuremye introduced the theme of the conference and stressed the significance of education in families and the role of Ambassadors for Peace in promoting peace in the family. The representative of the Vice President of the Senate, Hon. Senator Ayingabire Speciose, was the guest of honor. She reported on research findings that “A proper marriage builds a good family with healthier members who live in peace and have a longer lifespan. Members from a family with good morals have a better potential to solve many challenges in life."

Participants included five parliamentarians, ten political leaders, 18 religious leaders, 15 community social workers, and ten academics.
