Day of Peace in Kharkov, Ukraine

Kharkov, Ukraine - On September 23, programs commemorating the United Nations International Day of Peace took place at school № 76 in Kharkov. Before the event, volunteers were greeted by the principal of the school and the assistant director.

The program began with a lecture and discussion for 20 high school students. Bochko Yevgeny, project coordinator, and Kolomiets Natasha, a volunteer with the Universal Peace Federation, shared information about the history and meaning of this day. They described the peacemaking movement and explained about the Youth Ambassadors for Peace program. Afterwards, the students watched a documentary film about Mother Theresa.

In the second part of the program, there was a lesson about peace for 30 students in the 6th form. Volunteers with the Universal Peace Federation spoke about the meaning of the International Day of Peace and the importance of living for others.

Volunteers helped the children make little origami paper cranes.
