Day of Peace in St. Kitts & Nevis

Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis - A young leader who participated in the Paraguay Youth Leaders Conference and Global Peace Festival in July returned to St. Kitts & Nevis inspired to carry out her new role as Ambassador for Peace after her unforgettable experiences with other young people who are inspired to work for peace.

The “Silver Jubilee Committee,” which is a government organization, and her Committee, “Ambassadors for Peace and Empowerment,” celebrated together the International Day of Peace at Warner Park in Basseterre, the capital of St. Kitts & Nevis. The vigil began at 9:30 pm on September 20 and concluded at 5:00 am on Sunday, September 21st. Performers included international and local bands and well-known singers.

More than 3,000 people came to hear the music. The program included the national anthem, a peace dance, reading a peace message, a minute of silent prayer, and release of 500 white balloons. This brought a fresh spirit of peace to the country.
