Australia-2017-05-01-International Day of Families Observed in Australia

Sydney, Australia—The UN International Day of Families was commemorated by UPF-Australia at its bimonthly Ambassadors for Peace meeting.

Some 50 Ambassadors for Peace, UPF supporters, members and guests from a wide range of cultural and religious backgrounds attended the event, which was held on May 1, 2017, at the Oceania Peace Embassy.

Greg Stone, the president of UPF-Australia, gave a presentation that highlighted the link between “Family Values and World Peace.”

The guest speaker, Damian Wyld, the CEO of Marriage Alliance, spoke on “Where We Are and Where We Need to Be” in relation to the movement for marriage equality.

The evening also included a screening of a UPF introductory video, a rendition of the song “Love Lifted Me,” and the appointment of a new Ambassador for Peace, Emily Tin Wun Kwok, the director of public affairs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the state of New South Wales.

It was, as usual, an enjoyable occasion that included the sharing of food and good company.
