Daliat El-Carmel, Israel—On November 3, 2018, more than 20 religious leaders, educators, social activists and civil servants were appointed as Ambassadors for Peace at Carmel College in the Druze town of Daliat El-Carmel.

The award ceremony was hosted by member of the Knesset (MK) Akram Hasson of the Kulanu party who serves as the president of Carmel College and chairman of the Druze Research Institute.

In the spirit of “one family under God,” Muslim, Druze, Christian and Jewish Ambassadors for Peace had an opportunity to share about their life's work and offered words of gratitude to the organizers.

MK Hasson gave the welcoming remarks, which were followed by greetings and remarks by senior leaders of UPF: Dr. Michael Balcomb, chair of UPF-Europe and the Middle East, and Mr. Umberto Angelucci, president of UPF-Middle East. Afterwards, an introductory video about UPF was shown and a presentation about becoming an Ambassador of Peace was given by Dr. Nurit Hirschfeld, secretary general of UPF-Israel.

The Ambassador for Peace Awards were given by Dr. Balcomb and his wife, Mrs. Fumiko Balcomb, and Mr. Angelucci and his wife, Mrs. Marilyn Angelucci.

Mrs. Miri Kamar-Friedman, secretary general of UPF-Israel’s Jerusalem Interfaith Forum, served as the emcee of the event, which concluded with a call to convene a Blessing to be offered by the president of UPF-Israel, Mr. Hod Ben Zvi and his wife, Mrs. Mitsuko Ben Zvi.
