   Nations Represented: 14

Tegucigalpa, Honduras— 6th Friendship America's Project

When: July, 1999

July began with Honduras hosting a major international RYS project as part of the Friendship America's Project. This program brought together youth from fourteen nations in North and South America as part of an effort to promote religious and cultural understanding. Arriving in the capital of Tegucigalpa, the international delegates dove into the difficult but rewarding work in the community known as "El Sapo". At the worksite we labored with the community to repair flood damaged walls, built sanitation sheds and removed tons of foul smelling garbage.

Support for the project came from the Mayor of Tegucigalpa and the Ministry of Social Project's. From the USA, Arizona State Representative, Mark Anderson offered a helping hand along with his daughter Kendra. The national radio, press and television networks covered the RYS from start to finish.
