Review of UPF-Canada's Accomplishments

Toronto, Canada - UPF Central District convened its first monthly meeting after a successful event in Ottawa on June 3, where UPF Canada chapter held a seminar on "Making Canada's Families Work." Doubtless such an annual event not only motivates its people on the national level but also provides opportunities to reach the pinnacle of objectives.

Speaking first, Dr. Hoossen Auckberaullee observed that UPF Central District could have provided more support with its potential resources of speakers, writers, and scholars.  Opportunities will be available in future national events. The inclusion of Mr. Willie Nabus, President of the Camarines Norte Association of Ontario, as one of the speakers from the Central District was appreciated. The attendance of Ambassadors for Peace from UPF Central District appreciated the successful event.

Rev. Mitch Dixon briefed the meeting with the text of the speech given by Rev. Sun Myung Moon in Korea on July 8. He concluded with a prayer that all those present may live in good health and in the abundance of God’s love.

Dr. Hoossen Auckberaullee requested the meeting to look into the suggestion made by Ms. Joy Pople in Ottawa to marshall support for the proposal for an interreligious council at the United Nations. Rev. Dixon, Dr. Hoossen, and others expressed their conviction that world peace can be fully established only when the wisdom and efforts of the world's religious leaders work cooperatively and respectfully with national and international leaders. After reviewing comments by the panelists at the June 3 conference – Imam Dr. Zijad Delic, M. Ahmed Qadri, and Ms. Joy Pople — the central district established a committee to start groundwork on that direction and provide added support to UPF leadership for the establishment of an interreligious council.

The meeting ended with supporting notes from Auth. Qamrul Khanson, Dr. Golam Dastagir, Mr. A. R. Qureshi, Mrs. Dr. Chae Hee Lee, and other distinguished attendees in the meeting. Rev. Stoyan Tadin offered a prayer for the success of UPF in general and of Central District in particular.
