Peruvian Ambassadors for Peace Raise Donations, Give Gifts to Families

Lima, Peru—UPF–Peru concluded its activities in 2017 in a traditional way, by sharing hope and giving inspiration to people who live in the poorer areas of Peru.

Throughout December, Ambassadors for Peace raised donations and organized events in various districts of Lima and in the city of Trujillo, which were attended by hundreds of families and children.

On December 9, Ambassador for Peace Dr. María Isabel Romaní together with UPF-Peru Secretary General Mr. Jaime Fernandez visited a small village on the edge of Lima where Dr. Romaní is developing an environmental project. Both gave out gifts and Christmas presents from UPF to the local families.

On December 16, Ambassador for Peace Mrs. Rosario Tanaka, vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Jesus Maria district of Lima, who tirelessly works to raise funds for and donates to the poor, organized her annual Christmas program.

On December 18, in Trujillo, the President of UPF-Trujillo Mr. Wilson Chavez, and his wife, Mrs. Pilar Alvarez, a local representative of the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP)-Peru organized various meetings in the poor districts of the city. They, with other Ambassadors for Peace and members of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) in Peru, an affiliated organization, took presents and cakes and drinking chocolate to five WFWP-Peru district centers.

More than 400 parents and children participated in these activities.

On December 20, Ambassadors for Peace in the Lima district of Comas invited families from the poor areas to attend a Christmas concert and receive presents that had been donated to UPF by various organizations. The event took place in the town hall of Comas, thanks to the support of the local mayor, who is an Ambassador for Peace.

On December 21, Ambassador for Peace Mrs. Virginia Zegarra, of the Afro-Peruvian Association of Peru, organized a Christmas party for the poor children in her community.

It was a happy end to a busy year and filled everyone at UPF-Peru with inspiration to do more in 2018.
