|Day of Peace Commemorated at Sukkot Festival in Jerusalem|
Jerusalem, Israel - During of the Jewish Sukkot Festival, UPF-Israel opened a special stand on a pedestrian street in the center of Jerusalem dedicated to celebrating the UN International Day of Peace 2012.
Under a colorful banner and signboard volunteers invited passersby to engage in conversation and explained to them the significance of the Day of Peace and UPF’s involvement in supporting such UN days in many nations. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon’s special address on the Day of Peace was printed on a pamphlet, along with UPF’s message on the International Day of Peace, and distributed to passersby.
Many people stopped to listen and discuss about this meaningful day and were particularly interested to learn about UPF’s view of “renewing the UN.” Israelis and foreign visitors for the festival all shared their keen desire to see the UN return to its founding spirit.
Copies of the autobiography of the UPF Founder, Rev. Sun Myung Moon, were distributed as an example of a man who gave his whole life for the sake of peace.
