Abuja, Nigeria - For UPF-Nigeria and Ambassadors for Peace, the UN's theme for the International Day of Peace, "Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future," was close to the theme of the national conferences that UPF-Nigeria was holding around the country on marriage and family as instruments for peace. Based on the UN theme, the committee organized a two-day seminar on the theme “Marriage and Family as Instruments for Sustainable Peace, National Development, and Sustainable Future.”

New Delhi, India - To mark the UN International Day of Peace 2012 and the UN Sport for Development and Peace program, UPF-India joined hands with the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan and St. Stephens College to organize an Intercollegiate Peace Football Tournament under the theme “Play Soccer, Make Peace” from October 10-12 at the football field of St. Stephens College, North Campus, University of Delhi. Eight teams from eight different colleges under Delhi University took part in the tournament.

Colombo, Sri Lanka - UPF-Sri Lanka celebrated the “UN International day of Peace” on September 23 at the Youth Parliament of Sri Lanka in Colombo. The Youth Parliament was established in 2011 to strengthen social harmony and build mutual understanding among the youth of the nation after the heart-breaking decades of conflict. Thus it was very fitting to celebrate the UN International Day of Peace at the Youth Parliament.

It was held at Kiev boarding school №2 for children with special challenges of physical and intellectual development. Seven UPF volunteers and 35 children from 5th and 7th grades participated in the program.
