The program opened with an invocation by Rev. Jose Manuel Gamez Lazo, leader of the Moravian Church in Managua. Following this, Professor Jamileth Flores welcomed everyone with a magnificent typical dance of Nicaragua.

Dr. Ramiro Cortez, rector of the university; Lic. Ivania Toruno, former Minister of the Family; and Lic. Jorge de Oliveira, secretary of UPF-Nicaragua, were invited to the head table.

Dr. Cortez gave a magnificent dissertation about the problems that need to be overcome in Latin America in order to achieve peace. He also talked about the great contributions Martin Luther King, Jr., made to peace. Lic. Toruno talked about her experiences as an Ambassador for Peace. The concluding speech was given by Lic. de Oliveira, who talked about peace and democracy; he encouraged institutions, such as the university hosting the event, to start a tradition of honoring peace on September 21 each year and educate young people and the citizens as a whole about a culture of peace.

At the end, a video introducing the Universal Peace Federation was shown, the autobiography of UPF Founder Rev. Sun Myung Moon was distributed, and drinks were served. The public was very attentive and were pleased to be part of the event.
