In its fourth year of promoting the UN International Day of Families, UPF chapters in 71 nations organized commemorative events, some in more than a dozen cities. They hosted forums about local issues affecting families, organized commemorations in national parliaments, gave awards to outstanding families, and showed disadvantaged children a good time.

Penang, Malaysia - UPF-Penang organized a special parent-child program in conjunction with the UN International Day of Families’ theme “Ensuring Work-Family Balance” on June 24.

Montevideo, Uruguay - UPF-Uruguay organized a luncheon program in commemoration of the International Day of Families on June 10.

Toronto, Canada - UPF-Canada held a joint conference with the Women's Federation for World Peace in Toronto on June 9 on Promoting Strong Family Values as a Foundation for a Peaceful Nation in support of the UN International Day of Families.

Washington, DC, USA - Universal Peace Federation’s May 29 program on the UN International Day of Families 2012: Ensuring Work Family Balance, was co-sponsored by The Washington Times Foundation.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - UPF-Ethiopia organized a celebration of the UN Day of Families on May 27 in partnership with Ambassador for Peace Ato Getachew Wolde Hanna, founder of the Ethiopian’s Family Association and owner of Tesfa (Hope) primary school in Addis Ababa.
