The Universal Peace Federation organized over 55 celebrations of the United Nations Day of Families in 31 nations, building on the theme “Creating a World of Peace, One Family at a Time.” The final event of the two-week observation took place May 18 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

In mid-2001, my father achieved a high point in his career when he completed the acquisition of the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan. We all know what happened. But my father did not allow this catastrophe to turn into a game of blame in which religions, nations, and peoples were vilified. He set out immediately to build bridges to link with other people.

There is no more important task that to work to strengthen the institution whereby we not only reproduce the human species but educate, nurture, and train the members of our species to be truly human, that is, beings who aspire to and achieve the highest levels of moral, spiritual, and professional excellence.
