New York, United States—A diverse group of leaders from spiritual and peace organizations shared speeches, traditions and music during the "Interfaith Celebration for World Peace and Harmony."
The meeting was held on July 11, 2016, in the Tillman Chapel of the Church Center for the United Nations, directly across the street from the UN headquarters in New York. H.H. Jagat Guru Dileepji Maharaj, the founder and CEO of the World Yoga Community, who is also a UPF Ambassador for Peace, organized the meeting.
The Interfaith Leadership Award was presented to Padmashr Dr. Sundar Menon, the CEO and founder of Sun Group International. The speakers and audience celebrated each other's message and expression of faith in a festive and joyful atmosphere.
Representing UPF, Lynn Walsh spoke on the fundamental spiritual purpose of our lives, that is, perfecting our love. Mrs. Walsh explained that our greatest spiritual challenges come in our relationships, and more so when we slip away from God's purpose for human relationships. She suggested that the family can be God's greatest gift if recognized as the primary school of love for each of us.
The enthusiastic event ran longer than planned, ending with uplifting songs by the Brooklyn Interdenominational Choir, led by Rev. Frank A. Haye.
