Christian Leaders Alliance of Peru Meets in Lima

Lima, Peru - Ministers and lay workers representing many different facets of the Christian faith - Catholic, Anglican, Evangelical and Adventist - came together at the end of February to review the progress that had been made since UPF-Peru initiated the Christian Leaders Alliance at the end of 2012.

The government's Ministry of Justice is developing an interreligious area based on discussions with the Christian Leaders Alliance, the Muslim Association (whose members include friends of UPF-Peru), and other churches and religions. The Ministry of Justice also offered to make arrangements to train pastors who are interested in working as voluntary counselors in situations where there are difficult family relationships. The training program and certification would be provided by a Christian university.

Other activities are planned for this year including a second meeting with the Muslim community in April and a possible event later in the year with the Ministry for Women for the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (Nov. 25)

It was a lively meeting with the singing of popular Christian songs and a time of  fraternal sharing.
