Conference Promotes an Interreligious Peace Council in Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand - UPF Thailand hosted another meeting in a series to discuss the creation of an Interreligious Peace Council in Thailand and the eventual establishment of a similar council within the United Nations. The Thai Council will work to solve conflict and promote cooperation, morality, goodness, and peace in Thai society.



The participants of the February 23 consultation included senior representatives of many of Thailand’s leading faith communities, including Mr. Chalore Wannapratheep, representing the Catholic Archbishop of Thailand; Mr. Veera Tangkijsiri, Secretary General of the National Buddhist Association of Thailand; Hindu representative, Mr. Satit Kumar Pava; Mr. Amarin Payasajjadej, Representative of National Sikhism of Thailand; and Mr. Suthep Laolamao, Representative of Chularatchamontri, the leader of Muslims in Thailand.

Governmental and university leaders included Mrs. Radjai Penkaew, Representative from the Thailand National Moral Center under the Office of the Prime Minister; Gen. Terdsak Marome, vice president of UPF-Thailand; and Gen. Pol. Thaveesak Tuchinda, Secretary General of Anti-Corruption and Promotion of Good Governance of the Senate of Thailand.
