UPF Chapters Honor Human Rights Day 2012

UPF chapters in Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Peru, and Russia organized events on UN Human Rights Day in response to the UN's appeal to "Make your voice count!" December 10 is the anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

Youth Interfaith Council Launched in the UK

London, UK -  A splendid event in the British House of Lords launched a Youth Interfaith Council on November 28. The 56 attendees included two members of the House of Lords, youth activists, and some people who were attending their first interfaith gathering.

UPF-UK Peace Council Holds Annual Meeting

London, UKThe UPF-UK Annual Peace Council meeting on December 8 was a full day of the ideals and values as expressed by European UPF Chairman Dr. Yong Cheon Song and UK UPF-Chairman Jack Corley. Mark Brann, UPF-Europe Secretary General, summarized developments worldwide especially reporting on the development of the European Leadership Conference series and the North Korean Medical Project.

International Leadership Seminar in Washington, DC

Washington DC, USA - UPF's Office of Embassy Relations in Washington DC concluded its programs for the year with a seminar on December 8 to introduce the core values and teachings of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, Founder of UPF. This seminar was the first presentation in an educational series that will continue into the new year.

Former UN Official Addresses the Responsibility to Protect

Tokyo, Japan - “Japan must join other countries in their efforts to help democracy and human rights be respected and promoted by all countries in general, and by China and Russia in particular,” said Mr. Kiyotaka Akasaka, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and currently the President of the Foreign Press Center in Japan. He was addressing the November 7 Peace Diplomats Forum.

UN Volunteer Day Marked by Roundtable and Recognitions

International Volunteer Day, December 5, offers an opportunity for volunteer organizations and individual volunteers to make visible their contributions - at local, national and international levels - to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. Volunteer recognition programs were held in Argentina and Pakistan. Volunteer program coordinators in Russia organized an online roundtable forum that included participants from Austria and Israel.
