Stuttgart, Germany - UPF-Stuttgart organized an event on January 15 with the title “Can Islam be called a peaceful religion?” Samir El Midani, a Muslim originally from Egypt, Ambassador for Peace, and former President of the Islamic Federation of Stuttgart, was the main speaker.

Tagum, Philippines - The Universal Peace Federation of the Philippines organized an interreligious conference in strife-torn Mindanao January 10-14 to build bridges of understanding among the Christians, Muslims, and indigenous people.

Rome, Italy - As a follow-up to the "Cakes for Peace" competition in December, the Iraqi Ambassador to the Holy See invited the president of UPF-Italy and the the president of the Federation of Catholic Associations and Parishes in Italy for a briefing on January 13 about prospects for cooperation and peace.

Bangkok, Thailand - UPF-Thailand hosted a consultation on December 22 about a possible interreligious peace council in Thailand.

Dhaka, Bangladesh - UPF and the Women's Federation for World Peace jointly organized a seminar promoting interreligious understanding on December 28 at the Sundarban Hotel. Forty-three Ambassadors for Peace, religious leaders, and NGO leaders attended.

Tokyo, Japan - UPF-Japan held an Interreligious Program in Tokyo on December 23 with the support of the “Association of Religious Ambassadors for Peace.” The program was held as the first half of the 40th Ambassadors for Peace Meeting, a bimonthly seminar series of UPF-Japan, with more than 50 participants.

Almaty, Kazakhstan - Ambassadors for Peace met at the Peace Embassy in Almaty on November 18 in observance of the UN International Day of Tolerance.
