Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - A host of Malaysia’s most influential citizens gathered at Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Jalil stadium on October 19 to celebrate the latest in the Global Peace Festival series and to promote the GPF vision with the slogan “Let’s make Malaysia the world capital of peace."

It is a great honor and pleasure to be with you today to celebrate a vision of everlasting peace. Your being here this evening in such numbers is a clear sign that the Global Peace Festival is indeed bringing a new breath of hope to a world yearning for an end to the cycle of war, conflict and poverty!

More than 20,000 people are expected to gather in Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, in the name of peace from October 17 to 19. They will be taking part in the Global Peace Festival 2008 during the three-day event. Jointly organized by the Universal Peace Federation Malaysia (UPF), the United Nations Association of Malaysia (UNAM), and Pure Love & True Family Malaysia for World Peace (PLTFMWP), the event hopes to promote a vision of world peace through service to others, inter-religious harmony and healthy families.
