Seoul, Korea: The 3rd Sunhak Peace Prize Award Ceremony

Dr. Hong Il Sik, chairman of the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee, explained at a conference held in Cape Town, South Africa that “the problems related to human rights and development in Africa are scars to the world’s conscience. These are tasks that all people of the world must work together to resolve.”

He announced that two African activists will share the prestigious Sunhak Peace Prize, which is awarded every two years to individuals or groups who have contributed to the peace and welfare of future generations.

The recipients of the 2019 prize are Waris Dirie, a Somali-born activist and supermodel who has led the fight against the practice of female genital mutilation, and Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, a Nigerian physician who has taken on Africa’s food crisis through his work supporting small farmers.

The awards will be presented in Seoul, Korea by the founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon at UPF’s World Summit 2019 on “Peace, Security and Human Development” to be convened on February 9-13, 2019 in Seoul, Korea.
