UPF-Russia Considers Lessons Learned from Covid 19 Pandemic

Moscow, Russia—The world after coronavirus was the topic of an online conference organized by UPF-Russia and the Women's Union of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Seventy people from different cities of Russia attended the conference, titled “World of the Future: My Family, My Russia. Lessons from a Pandemic and Universal Values,” which was held on June 29, 2020.

The coronavirus pandemic has divided recent history into “before” and “after” the virus. Every family, city, republic, country today seeks to determine the principles on which our society will develop in the future.

How successfully have our political, economic, social and health systems passed the stress test? What is the role of spiritual, universal values in successfully overcoming the current crisis and building a future based on the principles of interdependence, mutual prosperity and universal values? These questions were discussed at the conference.

Speakers:

  • Rashida Sultanova, a UPF Ambassador for Peace who is the regional chair of the Women’s Union of Russia and also the chair of the Women’s Union of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
  • Elvira Aitkulova, deputy chair of the State Assembly (Kurultai) of the Republic of Bashkortostan, chair of the Presidium of the World Kurultai
  • Maria Nazarova, secretary general of UPF-Russia spoke on “The Role of Spiritual, Universal Human Values in Overcoming the Pandemic Crisis and the Further Building of Universal Peace.”
  • Nikolay Kalmatsky, director of the Center for Social Support of the Population, spoke on “Social Contact and Family Opportunities in Conditions of Self-Isolation.”
  • Nina Filippova, Ph D, researcher at the Center for Initiative Budgeting of the Research Financial Institute under the Ministry of Finance of Russia, spoke on “The Role and Place of Communities in the Formation of a Worthy Future for the Family and Russia.”
  • Galina Filippenko, senior lecturer, Department of Psychology and Education, School of Arts and Humanities, Far Eastern State University, and head of the ISTOK Center for Social and Pedagogical Initiatives of the Student Pedagogical Unit, spoke on "Pandemic: New Opportunities for the Formation of Value Relations in the Family."
  • Salia Murzabaeva, PhD, professor at the Bashkir State Medical University, spoke on “Mass Volunteering during a Pandemic Is Evidence of Social Cohesion.”
  • Damira Sabirzyanova, chair of the Medical Chamber of the Republic of Bashkortostan, chair of the Coordinating Council of the National Medical Chamber of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District, spoke on “The Increasing Role of Women in Modern Conditions after a Pandemic.”
  • Guzel Shagieva, chair of the public organization We Are Together and director of the Ishimbay Women’s Union, spoke on "Work of the Women's Council in a Pandemic."
  • Ramilya Ismagilova, honored doctor of the Republic of Bashkortostan, chair of the Medic Republican Industry Council of Veterans and Pensioners of Health Workers, chair of the Women's Council of the Oktyabrsky District of Ufa.
  • Nadezhda Krylova, deputy chair of the Women’s Union of the Republic of Bashkortostan, co-chair of the regional headquarters of the All-Russian National Front in Bashkortostan, and a member of the Russian Lawyers Association.
