Training More Micronesian Teachers in Character Education Print E-mail

Pohnpei, Micronesia – Twenty one elementary school teachers participated in a character education teacher-training program in preparation for a new one-year  pilot program scheduled for the Pacific island nation. The seminar was sponsored by Ministry of Education in partnership with UPF Micronesia.

Character Education Seminar in Addis Ababa Print E-mail

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - We organized a whole day of training at Nefas Silk TVET College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in collaboration with the Universal Peace Federation. The seminar was attended by about 70 College trainees selected from different departments and specializations, based on their high performance and grades in the Civic and Ethical Education course I have been teaching there.

Book Review: "Social Intelligence," by Daniel Goleman Print E-mail

Daniel Goleman is best known for his bestselling and groundbreaking book Emotional Intelligence. In that book, Goleman maintained that there was a set of traits—“some may call it character”—that set some people apart from others and allowed them to achieve more professionally and personally. This was “emotional intelligence”. It had to do with relating well to other people, having the social skills and self-control to enlist others’ aid and support and hence to perform optimally where technical expertise and intelligence quotients fell short.
