Kabul, Afghanistan - In the midst of confusion and violence, many have fallen prey to the evil wishes of the perpetrators and entrepreneurs of war and feel violent and confused, many times resorting to retaliation and counter-violence. This was the situation on September 21 when the Head of the High Peace Council of Afghanistan was killed by a suicide attacker in his house in the heart of Kabul. The following Day UPF members met in Kabul to commemorate the International Day of Peace

Kabul, Afghanistan - Throughout the year of 2010 UPF Afghanistan has been giving Basic Peace Seminars to young Afghanis reinforcing the concept of living for the sake of others. More than 10 Basic Peace Seminars have been held, educating more than 300 Young Ambassadors for Peace to become peacemakers and to serve their community.

The purpose was to spread the culture of celebrating such important day and articulate the central role of the family in establishing a peaceful and harmonious society.

The people hope that the new strategy of US President Barack Obama and the international community can bring a new, effective policy for the benefit of the Afghan people. The only ones who are benefiting from the old policy are those who are corrupt. The middle class and the poor people have no chance to develop. They only become more and more poor, affected by the continuous increases in prices and lacking any opportunities for adequate jobs.
