Day of Peace Observed with Interfaith Prayers in Italy

“It would be better to devote 364 days to peace and only one day to the war, rather than the other way.” These are the words of Carlo Chierico, President of UPF-Monza and Brianza UPF, at an International Day of Peace event on September 21 in Monza. In Bergamo, representatives of various faiths poured water on a "Tree of Peace" that was planted in 2008. In Milan, UPF hosted a program of prayers and music from various faith traditions.

Kicking Footballs for Peace in Monza

The world-famous Pele himself said he has experienced how football can stop conflict at least temporarily, and this was exactly what UPF-Monza had in mind. On June 24, the final matches of the UPF Monza’s Trophy of Peace were held. It was the final day of a nearly three-month football tournament, organized by Carlo Chierico, the Monza UPF president.

La sua importanza supera quella delle istituzioni religiose, dei governi nazionali, o anche altre organizzazioni internazionali. Lui specialmente sottolinea il potenziale delle Nazioni Unite per la liberazione dalla povertà delle nazioni sottosviluppate ed incoraggia lo sviluppo delle nuove nazioni democratiche.
