Kabul, Afghanistan - An observance of the UN International Day of Peace in the conference hall of Ibn-e-Sina University in Kabul on September 20 constituted a microcosm of Afghanistan, assembling people from various sections of the society and different ethnic groups, religions, and cultures. The event transformed the dynamics of conflicts into elements of peace and coexistence for some hours.

Kabul, Afghanistan - About 25 people gathered in the Serena Hotel in Kabul on December 15 for a forum on "Innovative Approaches to Sustainable Development and Peace." Afterwards, UPF leaders paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mohammad Karim Khalili, Vice President of Afghanistan.

This fabulous event was held at the Gharjistan Institute of Higher Education. The program consisted of speeches, messages, cultural presentations, and refreshments.

The people hope that the new strategy of US President Barack Obama and the international community can bring a new, effective policy for the benefit of the Afghan people. The only ones who are benefiting from the old policy are those who are corrupt. The middle class and the poor people have no chance to develop. They only become more and more poor, affected by the continuous increases in prices and lacking any opportunities for adequate jobs.
