Peace Tour Inaugurates UPF in Australia

Sydney, Australia - The inauguration of the Universal Peace Federation in Australia brought together more than 500 peace activists, religious and political representatives across Australia to listen to a peace message and create a common platform for inter-faith dialogue.

Australian Peace Federation spokesperson and member of the Universal Peace Federation Global Peace Council, Dr. Nazir Gul Daawar stated there is a need today for religions to contribute to global solutions through cooperation rather than being part of the problem. “There is a general mood and willingness out there to find new strategies to combat some of the world’s ills, especially overcoming conflict and poverty.

“Religious and spiritual values should be part of the solution rather than the problem,” Dr. Daawar said. "Interfaith dialogue will eliminate stereotypes. For example, in Australia people do not have a good knowledge of Islam. The Peace Federation will start an interfaith dialogue between Christians and Muslims.”

“Peace can be promoted by a leader of a Catholic Church or a Christian Church or of any religion. Peace is desired by everyone,” he concluded.

The event included an invitation for couples to join in a world peace blessing toast of marriage rededication.
